What’s not to love? C’mon John Calipari
Ok, so I know, I’m a little late here but John Calipari is the coach of the Memphis Tigers and as well know by now, they are not the NCAA Champions. But, what he is is one classy man. He has enough wins under his belt that winning is second nature. Then, you give a man the manners of this man and what you get is someone who is a joy to watch win. I cheered for Memphis for several reasons and he was one of them.
He made his name at UMass back from 1988 to 1996 when he led Minutemen program to conference title after conference title. He finished with a 193-71 record overall with a 91-41 record in Atlantic Conference games. He was named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year in 1992, 93 and again in 1996. He led UMass to its first ever appearance in the Final Four with the play of the John R. Wooden Award Winner Marcus Camby.
He moved to the New Jersey Nets for the 96-97 season. In his first 8 years as head coach at Memphis he won 218 games. That’s not anything to be blowing smoke at ya’ll. So, I give you…John Calipari
