Rafael Nadel
Ok, first of all, you know I don’t like to keep my eye on the youngsters (whatever) but this guy was born the year I graduated from high school. Yea, makes me feel really old. He is a Spanish professional tennis player and has been ranked World No 1 since August of 2008.
He was born an athlete and into a family of athletes. Basically his uncle is a former professional tennis player and was the one who introduced him to the game when he was three. He made his debut in 202 ranked 235th and then moved to number 47 the next year.
As of 2009, he has won six Grand Slam singles titles, and the 2008 Olympic Gold medal in singles. He has wont he last four French Open singles titles and that puts in him an elite category with Born Borg in 2008 to be the only man to have won four consecutive singles titles there.
In 2009 he became the first Spaniard to win the Australian Open and the fourth male tennis player, behind Jimmy Connors, Mats Wilander and Andre Agassi to win Grand Slam titles on three different surfaces.
Wanna peek at him?
Nice uh?
