It is just the week of the young boys
Another 22 year old that was born as I was getting ready to graduate from high school, but Gerald Green, Jr. is looking pretty good doing his thang. Yes, I am talking about the NBA and even won the NBA Slam Dunk contest last year beating out Nate Robinson, Tyrus Thomas and Dwight Howard.
Let me give you some more specifics. He has a 48 inch vertical leap. Do you realize that he can jump over a lot of things with that leap? He has three dogs, one named joker ad he work special Reebok Pump sneakers when he won the slam dunk contest.
He didn’t even play basketball until his sophomore year in high school. He had academic issues and eventually transferred to Gulf Shores Academy in Houston where he repeated his junior year. He then averaged 33 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 blocked shots per game. He was obviously named an All-American and played in the McDonald’s All American Game and to no one’s surprise, he won the slam dunk contest there as well.
He originally planned to go to college but changed his mind and entered the draft. He was one of the last players to enter the NBA straight out of high school due to some rules the NBA has now put into effect.
At 6 foot 8 inches tall and 200 pounds, it is hard to imagine he needed college to get him ready for the NBA. And, so, I give you, Gerald Green…
