Dr. Kovac
Yes, Dr. Kovac or Goran Visnjic joined the cast of NBC’s ER in 1999. His character was that of a Croatian doctor who immigrated to the US after the violent deaths of his wife and children. Now, dang it, that’s a sad character to have to play. And, he did grow-up in Croatia after all.
His first performance in the local theater and then at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb was as Hamlet at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival. His other theater credits include “Les Fourberies de Scapin”, “L’Ecole des Femmes”, “Miss Julie”, “Ivanov”, “The Brothers Karamazov” and “Le Baruffe Chiozotte”.
Recently he completed an independent film called “The Deep End” which was directed by Scott McGhee and he was able to star opposite Tilda Swinton. He also appeared in Miramax 2000 film “Committed” and will star in an upcoming independent film called “Deep Sleep”.
He has made his American motion-picture debut in the critically acclaimed drama, “Welcome to Sarajevo” His hobbies include swimming and diving as well as fencing. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Ivana.
