Show's I don't really watch

Simon Baker from the Mentalist! :)

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

He was first recognized in 1991 when he received Australia’s prestigious Logie Award for Most Popular New Talent.  And, apparently he is going to be one more new talent to watch.

He is married to Rebecca Rigg and they have 3 children.  You might find them hanging out with Nicole Kidman as Rebecca and Kidman have known each other for many years.

As a teenager, he was into surfing and water polo.  He was one of the singers/dancers in the band Euphoria’s film clip “Love you right”.  Russell Crow and Guy Pearce were raised in Australia along with Baker and all three of them appeared in LA Confidential in 1997.  However, Baker is the only one of the three that was born an Aussie.  He was voted People magazines “50 Most Beautiful People” in 2002 and Named among Fade in Magazine’s “100 People in Hollywood You Need to Know”  in 2005.

Baker appeared in The Guardian and now has his own CBS crime drama, The Mentalist.  He plays a recovering phony psychic who uses his powers of observation to solve police mysteries.  I don’t know, doesn’t sound like my type of show, but, I do love me some Criminal Minds so you can never tell.

So, obviously he has been around for a while and we’ve just managed to miss him.  He was paling around with Rufus Sewell in the TV Guide shoot for the Men of Fall 2008.  His personal quote goes like this, “If you can’t be proud of what you do, go and sell shoes.  Do something else.”

Yea, what he said.

When I saw this photo…

bryan austin

I knew I was missing out….I had to go find some more photos of this guy.  So, that’s when I learned that he was a big time actor in Beverly Hills, 90210 which I didn’t watch but also in the CBS prime time soap opra Knots Landing and then on a TV mini-series, Knots Landing:  Back to the Cul de Sac.

He has also ventured into directing in Beverly Hills, 90210, Fish Without a Bicycle and The Vines.  As for his other TV performances, how in the world did I ever do without this guy, he was in Baywatch, Melrose Place, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, The Twilight Zone, CSILas Vegas, George Lopez and Terminator:  The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

How did I ever live my life without his eyes?

I’ve got new meat…Brian Kruse

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

I’ve made it this far in the ol’ TV Boyfriend blog without a big hiccup.  I mean, you know, I’ve stated my love of all things Wentworth but I’ve done my best to make sure that I have given you a plethora of other men to check out.  And, today is no different.  Brian Kruse….yea, do you know him?

His first role was in 1989 as a student in the TV series TV 101.  He moved on for a made for TV movie Match Point, Highway to Heaven, CBS Schoolbreak Special and An American Summer.   And, if you look hard enough, you will find him in Return to the Blue Lagoon and Bandit but his most notable role…..Leo in Charmed from 1998 to 2006.  He has also been in Jack Rio, Warbirds, The Gods of Circumstance, Desertion, Nowhere to Hide and The Secrets of Valleyoaks Cave.

And, TV, well there’s Walker, Texas Ranger, High Tide, CSI:  Miami, The Closer and Mad Men.  So you see, you’ve probably seen him on the big screen and on the television screen and didn’t even realize it.  Or maybe you did and I was just in the dark all this time.

Dylan Walsh

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

This one is easy, he was born Charles M. Walsh…confusing?  No?  Either way, he is who he is.  I’ve been fairly lucky this go around as I start to look for some hotties.  I mean, you know, they can’t all have the body of a Shemar Moore but then again..how boring would life be…no wait, forget I said that.

So, indeed, let’s talk about Dylan instead.  He moved to New York to pursue an acting career after he received his degree from the University of Virginia.  He started using the name Dylan Walsh professional after he got a role on the show Kate & Allie.  He continued to work the film circuit and then landed the role of Sean McNamara on Nip/Tuck.

So, where else should you look for Dylan?  You could try The Lone Ranger, The Twilight Zone, Power Play, Deadly Little Secrets, Nobody’s Fool, Betsy’s Wedding, Where the Heart Is and Chameleons.  And, of course, as I have already mentioned, his big role on TV was as Ben on Kate & Alie

Jason Dohring

Friday, March 13th, 2009

He is Jason Dohring from Veronica Mars, ring any bells?  Sure it does, yesterday’s Chris Lowell is a Veronica Mars and Mom Houston guy too.  So, what do you we know about Jason?  Well he was in 1982, holy cow I’m old, I was starting high school, and he is best known for his role of Logan Echolls on Veronica Mars.

But, as with many of these stars, he’s been seen in a lot of places.  Baywatch, Once and Again, Ready to Run, JAG, Boston Public, Judging Amy, Cold Case, and Moonlight just to name a few.  And, he has had a fairly lucrative film career as well.  in 1994 he was in Prehysterical 2 as a voice over, then in 1998 he was Jason Thurman in Deep Impact, in 2001, he was in Train Quest, in 2003, it was Black Cadillac and in 2007, The Deep Below.

So, don’t think this guys is a stranger to the TV or film world, he’s been all over and he has been fortunate enough to work with some pretty awesome actors and actresses along the way as well.

Chris Lowell

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

This is the week of the repeat, the ladies of Mom Houston style,Chris Lowell from Private Practice is making another appearance here, can’t be that now can you?  Lowell was born in Georgia and attended Atlanta International School where he first got interested in theatre and filmmaking.  He currently studies at the University of Southern California and he was discovered by agents there while playing beach volleyball.

Humm…now I bet that was a nice sight to hold.  He is best known for his role as Stosh “Piz” Piznarski in Noir Veronica Mars but right now he is making huge waves on Private Practice as William “Dell” Parker.  Other good places to find him are Life as We Know It in 2004-2005, Graduation in 2006, and Grey’s Anatomy in 2007.

So, keep your eyes open, it’s looking good around here.

John Corbett - United States of Tara

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

We are re-visiting another old read today because those ladies at Mom Houston sure know how to pick ‘em.  John Corbett is the subject and obviously, we can never get too much of a good thing.  The ladies at MomHouston are providing me with some goodies.

John Corbett is an American actor and country music singer.  I knew he was an actor but I had no clue he could sing.  Well, I really didn’t know he was an actor til I found him and wrote about him before.  Either way, he’s quite the accomplished actor if I might say so myself.

His first notice was as the piano-flinging character of Chris “Chris in the Morning” Stevens in the television series Northern Exposure.  That was 1990 to 1995…yea way back when…..

Since then he has added roles as Carrie Bradshaw’s lovable boyfriend Aiden on Sex and the City and a sweet-natured boyfriend/husband in My Big Fat Greek Wedding

Most recently though, he is known as Max Gregory in the United States of Tara, a role on Street Kings, The Messengers, Montana Sky and Dreamland.  So, yea, quite accomplished eh?

Taylor Kitsch

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

We’ve visited him before, here, but let’s give him another whirl, that was a year and a half ago, so let’s see if he’s gone anywhere different.

The ladies at MomHouston seem to like him too

I happen to really like the way he looks and I was a Friday Night Lights fan.  I hated to see it move over to another station and will be glad to see him when he moves on to some other roles.  Of course, I wish Friday Night Lights would just go on forever.

He was born in Kelowna, British Columbia and has two older brothers and two younger half sisters.  He set out to be a professional hockey player and he did play for the Langley Hornets in the Canadian BCHL before a bad knee injury ended his career.

Aren’t we lucky that happened.  I mean, not lucky for him really, just lucky for us.  Since then he’s done Kyle XY, John Tucker Must Die, Snakes on a Plane, Breaking the Silence: Exposing the Covenant and X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

A few hotties from referrals – Hunter Parrish

Monday, March 9th, 2009

Lina Fuh from MomHouston staff send me a list of hotties and so we are going to get them up and showing off.  The first one on the list is Hunter Parrish.  Now, I have to admit, when I first started researching him, the only photos I could find appear to have been taken when he was about 12.  But, apparently he is older than he looks.

He was born in Richmond Virginia and graduated from Texas Tech University Independent School District in 2007.  He had several guest starring roles in shows like CSI, Close to Home, Law and Order and Summerland.  He recently had a role in Freedom Writers as well.  He played Ben Samuels, the only white student in a California high school class.

And, to add to his credentials, he has The Guardian in 2003, Steal Me in 2005 along with Weeds from 2005 until the present time.  He has also filmed 17 Again this year.

Do you know Justin Long?

Sunday, March 8th, 2009

I’ve been making myself a constant on Twitter these days and begging people to give me their idea of a good TV Boyfriend.  And, with that, I get folks like Justin Long that I would, otherwise, have known nothing about.

Deni was just one such lady who had a suggestion and her idea of a hottie was Justin Long.  So, I did my research and wa-la, indeed, he looks pretty good to me.  So, where do you think you can find him?  That’s an easy one, he has film credits tat include Jeepers Creepers, Waiting….., Dodgeball:  A True Underdog Story, The Break-Up, Dreamland, Alvin and the Chipmunks and his TV sightings are on the NBC series ED from 2000 to 2004 and in 2006 a documentary Wild West Comedy Show.  He also co-starred with Bruce Willis as a “white-hat hacker” in Live Free or Die Hard and had a fairly large role in the movie The Sasquatch Dumpling Gang

He is also known as his depiction of Mac in Apple’s Get a Mac campaign.  This features him as a Mac and John Hodgman as a PC and they engage in playful banter about “the strengths of the Mac platform and weaknesses of the PC platform.

And, now, in 2009, he filmed He’s Just Not That Into You and has long dated actress Drew Barrymore  but has recently been seen with Kirsten Dunst and Tila Tequila.

Michael Vartan – A new man

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Yes, believe it or not, this guy managed to slip right by me.  How Michael Vartan can be on TV and I never knew?  That’s completely horrible.  So, when I stumbled on him, it was pure joy, just color me stupid because just take a look…..

michael vartan

Is that freakin’ hot or what?  So, let’s take a walk on the wild side and see if we can find this hottie out there.  Yea, easy-peasy, he is right here, in

1988 in Black Leather Jacket, in 1996 in The Pallbearer, in 1997, in Touch Me, in 1999, Never Been Kissed, in 2000 in It Had to Be You, in 2001 Alias, then in 2007 in Rogue and Big Shots and in 2008 in Jolene.

He also has made guest appearances on Friends (as Dr. Tim Burke, Tom Selleck’s character’s son) and Alley McBeal as Jonathan Basset.  He has even appeared on the show Kitchen Confidential with his former Alias co-star Bradley Cooper.  He even played James Walker in Bi Shots which was cancelled after one season.

Lee Pace from ABC’s Pushing Daisies

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

Yea, so, I’m not real familiar with Lee Pace nor am I real familiar with Pushing Daisies - The Complete First Season .  According to the Washington Post, it takes a special actor to pull off the sexy piemaker.  Now, that really peaks my interest because what in the heck is a piemaker.  I mean, is that like baking?  He is best known for his role as Ned on Pushing Daisies though so who am I to say different.

I mean, he looks pretty doggone good, how can I argue with that?  He was accepted into the Juilliard School’s drama division in 1997 and he played in several plays including Romeo & Juliet as Romeo and Julius Caesar as Cassius.  He was a classmate of Anthony Mackie and Tracie Thoms.

He can be found on TV since 2002 in shows Law & Order: Special Victims Unit - The Eighth Year like as Benjamin Tucker in the episode entitled Guilt.  Then, Soldier’s Girl in 2003, he was in as Calpernia Adams/Scottie.  Then, Wonderfalls - The Complete Series, 2004 he was in  as Aaron Tyler and then of course, the last 2 years as Ned on Pushing Daisies.

Kevin McKidd

Friday, February 20th, 2009

We’ve discussed Kevin before, but according to the Washington Post, this guy is making it big on Grey’s Anatomy . He is said to exude in animal magnetism that some of his previous co-stars have left.  You know, like McSteamy and McDreamy.  He’s been around the block a time or two in films but for now, I’m going to shout out his TV appearances.

And, he started way back in 1996 as Father Deegan in Father Ted, in 1999 as Jericho O’Grady in The Magical Legend of the Leprechauns , as Count Vronsky in Anna Karenina (2000), as Billy Guthrie in North Square, as Bothwell in Gunpowder, Treason & Plot (Reinado De Sangre) [NTSC/REGION 1 & 4 DVD. Import-Latin America ], in 2004.  By 2005, he was the Duke of Norfolk in The Virgin Queen , Lucius Vorenus in Rome - The Complete Second Season , as Dan Vasser in Journeyman and in 2008 he came in as Owen Hunt on Grey’s Anatomy.

He has even done voice work as Jezz Torrent in Grand Theft Auto Vice City in 2002.  So, if you don’t know him, the time is now to go check him out.  Backing up a little, he was in films like Made of Honor , Hannibal Rising (Unrated Widescreen Edition) , Max , Topsy-Turvy , and as Johnny in The Acid House .

Chris Mann

Monday, February 16th, 2009

So, one more musician and I’ll give it a rest ok?  Most of you probably already know that I’m not a big music buff, I’m not a big movie buff and I really don’t know that much about TV.  I watch the shows with my favorite hot men and occasionally I run upon a new hottie via someone’s suggestions.  But, for now, today, and well, yesterday and the day before, I’m giving you a glimpse of a musician or two.

You see, I missed Yanni Voices at Blissdom and I didn’t miss Chris Mann, I just merely sat outside the conference room because I’m not really fond of loud music.  That’s my own personal quirk, not a reflection of Chris Mann.  He sounded wonderful.  It’s just that I was already in sensory overload.  I was already twitching from all the excitement and one look at this gorgeous specimen and I knew, it best that I listen from afar.

With that, I have to tell you that his music is great.  Awesome!  Wonderful!  Even when it is louder than I prefer my music, it was that good.  And, what made it even better?  He showed up at the cocktail party.  I didn’t talk to him.  I simply watched as other women made ga-ga over him.  I watched as he was flirtatious just enough with each and every women, regardless of size, height, weight, or ability to make fluid sentences.  He truly was “da Mann” of the night.
