TV Boyfriends

I have never heard of this guy before.  But, obviously it was my loss.  I did indeed come to find out who and what Chone Figgins was and is.  He is a California Angel baseball player.  He does wear number 9 and he is a third basement.  What else?  I mean, if that’s not enough, you all know I love me some athletes.  And, he is a mere 5′8″ and 180 pounds but hey, athletic bodies don’t come easy.  Here’s a few pics I found and I’m sure you can stir up some more quite easily.

Not Eva, Evan.  Do you know the difference?  If you don’t, you should.  You know, Eva, she is the lean mean sex machine from night-time soaps, but Evan Longoria, he is a Major League Baseball player.  They’ve struck up a friendship because of their similar names.  And, recently, Evan received a bottle of champagne in the Tampa Bay Rays clubhouse from Eva and in return, he gifted her with some Rays T-shirts and other goodies. 

He says that sharing a name with the star has made for some good natured ribbing from his teammates.  He says, “My teammates tell me I’m swinging the bat like Eva”.  Although they haven’t met in person, he says he might try to get tickets to one of her movie premieres.

Longoria was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays with the third pick in the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft.  He was labeled the “best pure hittier” in the 2006 draft class.

Warren Sapp will definitely be the first guy to show up on Dancing With the Stars but he is a really big guy and we shall if he dances or slumbers.  He is known for his football prowess and playing in seven consecutive Pro Bowls and was part of the Tampa Bay Bucs Super Bowl Winning Team in 2003.  Although he is retired, he is still a force to be reckoned with, watch him closely.

He will be dancing with Kim Johnson and she may not have partnered with anyone before that has the kind of self-esteem that Warren has making quotes like “I’ve had good feet all my life.  Emmitt Smith has sweet feet, but I’ve got good feet.”  We’ll see how good is feet are when it is lumbering that big ol’ body around in a “light and fancy” manner.

Warren even admits, there is a lot to move (well, duh, this is dancing).  He says, “Have you ever been around a 300 pound man?  When people talk about losing weight, we laugh.”  But, take this warning, he is ready to rock and roll on the dance floor even though he does have some old injuries that could flair up such as shoulder surgeries and rotator cuff shoulders.  Yea, those two together could make it difficult for that 300 pound man to lift that 99 pound woman?  Whatever!

He did get a good laugh out of the 2.5 inch Cuban heels.  He said that was when he thought, “ut oh, I’m in trouble!”

I used to be a big sports junkie.  I mean, I didn’t watch much besides the news and sports.  I was single then.  Even so, that was a lot of years that I followed college football, high school football, high school, college and NBA basketball and Braves baseball.  I remember one year at Easter I sat in the truck and listened to a NCAA March Madness game while the rest of my peers where I worked were out hunting eggs with the children.  Normally I would have loved to have been out and about with those people enjoying the season and the children.  But, that particular Saturday, it was interfering with my love of the game.

I lost interest a long time ago but with my son’s impeding arrival into sports, I’ve started noticing small things again.  Terrelle Pryor is not one of those small things I knew about until today.  As a matter of fact, he isn’t small by any means.  He plays for Ohio State now and he is huge.  We shall see what he can do with his career..if he can just keep his head on straight.  You can read more about him here, I won’t try to explain it all, just that he was the number one high school recruit in basketball and football last year.  Yea, that!

And, he is big, six foot six and 230 pounds worth of quarterback?  Yup, go read!

I turn 40 today so I figured it was a good time for me to celebrate myself and show you all the guys I think are hot and would make great TV Boyfriends.  I mean, after all, you only turn 40 once, right?

So, with that, I’ll give you names and one photo of each guy…or maybe two, depends on what I find.

Of course, you know that it all starts and ends with Wentworth Miller.

If you are wondering what is up with all the 2008 Olympic Volleyball players, just remember, I like tall men and volleyball happens to be one of my all time favorite sports.  He was born 1984 (born in 1984, holy cow, I graduated from high school in 1986…yikes).  It appears more and more than I just like my men young don’t you think?

He played basketball and volleyball  for Foothill High School in Pleasanton.  He played club volleyball for Diablo Valley.  He graduated from UC Santa Barbara in 2007 where he majored in sociology and minored in sports management.  He enjoys mountain biking, wakeboarding and golfing.  He says that the Golden State Warriors are his favorite professional team and even goes out on a limb and names Anna Kournikova as his favorite athlete. 

As for his college days, he was just a first team American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American.  That’s a nice place to start, eh?  He led the country in kills, service aces and points.  In 207 he was All-MPSF First Team selection and led the league in kills, aces and points in conference matches as well. 

In 2008 he played professionally for San Juan Playeros in Puerto Rico and Aris Thessalonica in Greece.  He helped the US men win the bronze medal at the World University Games in Bangkok, Thailand.  And, there you go, now how about some eye candy?

I usually start with commentary on the TV Boyfriends, but I felt the need to show what Rich looks like before we go much further.

Now, I know it’s not all about a pretty face, but I’ll have to say, it sure doesn’t hurt anything does it.  He is 6′3″ tall and weighs close to 200 pounds.  Sounds just about right to me.  He was in a bad bicycle accident when he was 6 and skinned his shoulder to the bone and mangled the right side of his face.  He says, “I could have been much uglier but due to my loving parents and medical science, I am only mostly unattractive…”  I can’t say that I agree with that statement now. 

He does say that he is a “bandwagon” guy when it comes to professional sports.  Hey, me to, me too.  And that basketball is one of his favorites along with golf and football.  He says his favorite athlete is Michael Jordan.  Hey, me too, me too. 

He calls San Diego is home and of course as most men of leisure he enjoys golf, beach volleyball and tennis.  He says his happiest moment in sports was winning the national championship at BYU in 1999.  He was MVP at Foothills High and played volleyball briefly at BYU.  He majored in Japanese at BYU.

As for college highlights, he started as an outside hitter, because you know, 6′3” is not real tall in the world of men’s volleyball.  He played in 82 games and posted 252 kills, 205 digs, 88 blocks and a .348 hitting percentage.  In 1998 he played in 21 or 22 matches and recorded 150 kills, 133 digs and 78 blocks.  I mean, I could go on and on and….well I will because in 1997 he ranked fourth nationally with 2.73 digs per game.  He was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Week on March 22. 

As I watch the men’s Olympic volleyball team play for the gold medal right now and if you know yourself, those men beach volleyball players are freakin’ awesome.  But, hey, take a look at the guys playing indoors, they can be easy on the eyes too.

And, so, we go with Sean Rooney first.  First of all, you know if he is 6′9″ tall then I am all over him.  I mean, really, I love me some tall men.  Naturally it isn’t easy to find information about these athletes though because they just aren’t the caliber of popularity as a Kobe Bryant.  But, Sean Rooney is by no means a slacker.  He is from Wheaton, Ill and wen to college at Pepperdine. His birthday is November 13, 1982.

He was the 2001 Illinois State Player of the Year and led his team to a state Championship.  He was also a avid player on the basketball court and could swing a golf club pretty well too.  He competed in the 1999 Junior Olympics and with the U. S. Junior National Team in 2000 as well as with the AAU National championship teams in 2000 and 2001 and get this, he was the most valuable player in 2001.  Does that surprise you?

He graduated from Pepperdine in 2005 with a degree in Business Administration.  It was 2004 when he joined the AVP beach volleyball tour.  The highest he placed was fifth but he did that three times.  He was the tallest player on those tours too.  I told you, tall men are awesome.

George Hincapie is 25 year old cycling Olympian from Greenville South Carolina.  He is 6′3″ tall and weighs about 175.  He is from Queens New York and currently he resides in either Greenville or Gerona, Spain.  His pro team or sponsorships come from Team High Road (USA) and he even has his own Blog. 

As for the Olympics, he has been there a few times, 2004 he was 24th in the men’s road race, in 2000 he was 8th in the men’s road race, in 1996 he was 76th in the men’s road race and in 1992 he was 16th in the men’s team race. 

He is one of the most recognized athletes in professional cycling in the world.  He is a 10 time Tour de France veteran and a four time Olympian as I’ve already mentioned.  He is married to a model and podium girl from the Tour de France named Melanie.  They have a daughter Julia Paris who was born in 2004.  He is know as the only rider to support Lance Armstrong in all seven of his Tour de France victories as a member of the U.S. Postal and Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Teams. 

He is also one of four Americans to wear the Yellow Jersey in the Tour de France.  He is part of a state of the art performance training village near Greenville, South Carolina and named the sight, Pla d’Adet for his 2005 Tour de France stage win.

I may have written about Kobe before but since he is now an Olympian, I must give you the pleasure of checking him out again.  Most of you may remember that Kobe was one of very few athletes to go straight from high school into the NBA.  But, with that said, Kobe was educated outside the US and had a lot of maturity has he had traveled and gained a lot of his education by learning to respect the customs of other countries.  That alone lends itself to maturity, I don’t care what other people say.

And, yes once he was in the NBA for a short time, he learned to be immature and act like some of our other athletes off the court.  But on the court, he is undeniable.  He is 6′6″ and you surely know he plays for the Los Angeles Lakers.  To his credit, he has a 2008 NBA MVP, a 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 NBA All-Star, 2002 NBA Champion, 2001 NBA Champion and a 2000 NBA Champion.

See he is a champion and worth repeating in the spotlight.

Why, how could you ask such a question?   Carlos is part of our US basketball team that is under a very watchful eye after their disaster in the Olympics four years ago when the US took a Bronze Medal instead of Gold.  They are calling the Redeem Dream Team because they had to make good on a whole lot of trash talking.  Carlos can help make sure that happens. 

He was born on November 20, 1981  and for some reason, his home town is being withheld from us.  However, he plays for the Utah Jazz so I would be a bit surprised to find out he live terribly far from there.  He is a 6′9″ power forward who can plan the role of a center.  His accolades include 2004 Bronze at the Athens Games, and NBA all-star in 2007 and 2008 and a member of the all rookie team in the NBA in 2003. 

He is also a two time member of the PARADE All-American High School Basketball Team, he lead The Crimson Bears to back to back state titles in high school and he played for Duke where he was part of the 2001 NCAA Championship Team.

There are tons of athletes in this year’s Olympics that I could just sit and listen to them tell me tales about the Olympics as they hand their medal around my neck while I pretend it is me on that medal stand.

Today I’m going to give you….Taylor Teagarden from Dallas Texas.  Taylor is 24 and plays baseball for the US.  He is a catcher and rounds out a 6′1″ and 200 pounds.  He bats right handed and throws right handed.  Right now he a member of the minor league where he plays for the parent club in Texas.  He plays for the Oklahoma Redhawks which is a triple A Pacific Coast League.

As is par for most of our Olympic athletes that aren’t named Michael Phelps, photos of Taylor aren’t easy to come by.  But, I love athletes.  I’ve never made a baseball player I didn’t instinctively like.  And, Taylor is no different.

He plays Tennis.  He was on Sabrina, the Teenage Witch as himself in an episode where Sabrina demanded him to give her tennis lessons.  He has hosted Saturday Night Live…way back in 2003.  He does an ad for This is Sports Center with Stuart Scott where he confronts an anchor about him not calling him A-Rod and asks him "Did Alex Rodriquez put you up to this?"  And he was in the June/July issue of Men’s Fitness magazine.  And, there is even more.  He appeared on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross.

So, yea, he plays Tennis.  And, boy does he ever play Tennis.  And, he looks good…really good….

Ok, so now that I have your attention, didn’t take long did it?  Juan was born in 1982 and currently is a Argentine Rugby Union player.   His family is full of athletes as his uncle was part of the Argentina squad in 1982 FIFA World Cup and his Sister won a silver medal with the Argentina hockey team at the 2000 Summer Olympics and a bronze medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics.  So, I mean, hey, there’s no lack of genes running that family, that’s for sure.

Before I leave you, I figure you need at least one more, ok, maybe two more good pictures to look at.

Ok, look, some guys make good TV Boyfriends because of their very own character.  Some make good TV Boyfriends because of their character on a show that I’ve seen lately.  Some make good TV Boyfriends because….their athletes and THEY ARE FREAKIN HOT HOT HOT.  James Taylor would be exactly one of those that fall into the just freakin hot category. 

He says he tailors his hairdo according to the kind of women he wants to attract.  I’m looking at this photo with a bald head and I’m getting terribly excited right now.  He said though in college he had braids and dreadlocks and even some cornrows.  But then he says it seemed that the girls he knew were after a bad boy kind of.  Now that’s he has grown up though, he tends to date girls who have figured out what they life in a guy and hopefully the hair isn’t the only thing they are looking for….He says for now, he likes being a clean cut guy.  I say…….absolutely hot hot hot.
