First of all, before I can move on to new and gorgeous men who have managed to hit the airwaves, I have to remind you of the guys I dream about on a nightly basis.

First and foremost, the TV Boyfriends mascot, Wentworth Miller.

American Idol’s David Cook

Saturday, April 12th, 2008

When I did my first preview of what I thought were American Idol hotties, I didn’t even cover David Cook.  Why?  Well, for one, his look just doesn’t appeal to me.  I don’t like the hair, the big cheesy grin or the tuft of hair on his chin.  Add to that, I’m not a big rocker fan.  So, with that, I skipped him.  His look hasn’t changed but I’m here to tell you that the week when he sang Michael Jackson’s Billy Jean, I almost started to be a fan of his.

He is only 25 so he has lots of time to make himself known and maybe he will make it as a rocker, I still won’t be listening.  But, if he cuts Billy Jean, I’m buying.  Even the judges liked it.  Randy said, “I think you’re probably the most original, the most bold contestant we’ve ever had.” Paul said she was so blown away that she couldn’t sit down but what’s new, right?  But, then Simon throws out the ultimate compliment by saying, “…it could have either been insane or amazing and, I have to tell you, it was amazing.”  See, when Simon likes you, you go places.

Jason Castro…American Idol

I’ve gone over this guy before, so nothing new really.  Well, except that now he is into AI and not been kicked out just yet.  So, this time around, I’m telling you, he was born in Texas and he is the first person in his family to be born in the U.S. He plays guitar and as we learned on Tuesday night, he can play the ukulele.  He also played soccer, and you know I love me an athlete.  His performance of Hallelujah has people downloading it like mad.

So far he has sung Daydream, I Just Want to Be Your Everything, Hallelujah, If I Fell, Michelle, Fragile, Travelin’ Thru and of course tonight he sang Over the Rainbow…which I loved!

So, here he is..

Do you remember Ace Young?

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

Do you remember Ace?  If you don’t, let me refresh your memory. He was part of season 5’s American Idol.  That was the one with Chris Daughtry, Katherine McPhee and others. So, I tell you this, he looks good, he sings good and has been singing for quite some time apparently…even pre-Idol.

After graduating high school he opened for Brian McKnight and New Edition and sang the national anthem at Denver Nuggets games.  He was then featured in the 2000 film The Little Vampire.

Then during Idol, he sang all kinds of songs..you probably saw that for yourself, so where is he now?

He was a guest on Total Request Live where he sang Don’t Go and he sang it a cappella.  That song will be on his upcoming album.  He was named one of People Magazine’s “Hottest Bachelors” on June 16, 2006.

He then helped Chris Daughtry write the chorus to his single, “It’s Not Over”.  And, guess what?  He is going to be a on a new episode of Criminal Minds.  He and Brandon Rogers too.  So much goodness all in one place…yummm.

Michael Johns, 29, another Grampy among the young cats

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

Yea, he might be 29 but that’s perfect for me.  He looks good, he has the gorgeous After 5 look too..see..

michael johns

He is from Los Angles and Atlanta, humm, that’s odd eh?  He too auditioned in San Diego though.  I’m not sure I remember him singing but you can guarantee I’m going to keep my eye on him and listen for him to dedicate a beautiful love song to me.  I won’t take it from you unless it happens to be one of those great ones that I just know was made for me.  His favorite quote is “It’s better to be a has been than a never was.”  I agree with that 100 percent.  Alas, he is giving it a go with American Idol and I sure am glad.  His musical influences are listed as The Beatles, Neil Finn, Queen, Otis Redding, INXS, David Bowie and ACDC.  With that list, I seriously doubt he will be singing any love songs anytime soon, but who knows.

His favorite female pop artists are listed as Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston and Stevie Nicks.  He says he has been singing since he was 5 but has no formal training.  He also plays tennis which like soccer, is simply a sport I’ve never been very good at playing.

My instincts say…Luke Menard..looks good

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

He really does.  At a ripe age of 29, he is practically a grampa among those young dudes in the Top 24 but I love his after 5 look in this photo

luke menard

He doesn’t have the piercing eyes of some of the other contestants but again, he is one of the few I remember hearing sing last week.  He is from Crawfordsville, Indiana and he auditioned in Omaha.  His favorite quote is quite comical and reminds me of something my principal in elementary school once said.  His version goes like this, “Don’t fight.  But if you have to…hit first and hit hard.”  My principals version was “Don’t fight, but if someone else hits you, don’t take a whoopin’ because you know you are gonna get one when Mama finds out you’ve been fighting.”

Ok, his musical influence have me a bit perplexed.  James Taylor, Take 6, Chapter 6, John Mayer (hey, I know him), Maroon 5 (what’s up with all the numbers), Keane, Billy Joel I know him too) and the Bee Gees (the Bee Gees?  really?  I like them too).  I have to wonder about these influences that get thrown out there.

He says he started singing as a freshman in high school and that he has no other formal training.  He also lists Tracy Chapman and Kelly Clarkson as his favorite female pop artists.  Tracy Chapman, yea, I like him, but er…Kelly is just not one of my favorites.

Jason Castro and his dreadlocks

Monday, February 25th, 2008

I was in my late 20’s when I fell in love with guys with dreadlocks.  I’m not kidding, my first instinct was gross, then these dreaded locks showed up on some fairly interesting men in my social circle and suddenly I found myself thinking, “hey, those aren’t so bad”.  Anyway, Jason Castro is only 20 and he auditioned in Dallas Texas and not San Diego.  His hometown is Rowlett, Texas and he apparently is fairly true to his state because his musical influences reads like this:

“Nowadays, my favorite singer-songwriter is Ray Lamontagne. There are a lot of great bands in Texas that have inspired me. Kirk Baxley is my favorite singer/performer of all musicians.”

Jason is only 20, again a youngster in this competition, but his quote is fairly unique, I like it.  “In the end, it will all be ok.  If it’s not ok, then it’s not the end!”  Fairly complicated, eh?

He does say that his favorite female pop artist is Kelly Clarkson and I really don’t like her at all.  He said he started singing in the choir in the fifth grade but didn’t sing again until his freshman year in college.  Imagine him standing beneath your window serenading you prior to the prom?  Yea, I get the first love song he sings too, sung straight into my eyes…from his….because people, he has some serious eyes.

Jason also plays drums and guitars and likes all that artsy-fartsy stuff like drawing, painting and building and finally, he likes soccer.  That doesn’t bode very well for our future as I hate soccer but, I still get the first love song he sings.

Garret Haley - I’m just thinking he looks like someone else from my childhood

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

Garret Haley is 17 and he too auditioned in San Diego.  Do you see a pattern here?  I’m not sure he is really good looking but he kind of reminds me of the fifth grade when I saw Leif Garret in concert. And, imagine my surprise when Ryan Seacrest made the analogy of Garret lookig like Leif. (I wrote these entries on Sunday before the show on Tuesday, so, I totally thought of it first.)   I know, it’s a far stretch but look at him, the hair, the eyes, the first name?  Anyway, he is from Elida, Ohio and he listed his musical influences are listed as Steve Perry and the Backstreet Boys.  At the age of 17, I’m not sure how old that means he was when the Backstreet Boys were popular but whatever they want to declare is alright be me.  His quote is one I’ve never heard before but again, if it suits him, it suits me.  “Go big or go home.”  Apparently he took that to heart when he had his hair done on photo shoot day too.

Oh well, the lips are pretty darn gorgeous too if you just start breaking him down.  But 17?  Oh well, you can have the first love song that he sings and declare it yours, I’m sticking with David Hernandez.

My personal favorite - David Hernandez

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

Ok, this guy is only 24 but I have to say he is one of my personal favorites far and away.  I actually remember hearing him sing.  I don’t remember the other guys, I’m just hoping for their own sake that they can sing love songs.  But this guy, David Hernandez, I remember hearing him.  He stood out, he melted my heart.  He sounded good folks.  If I have to pick a male favorite, he is definitely it.

He too auditioned in San Diego so I’m thinking that would be the place to audition if you are a young guy hoping to do well in the competition.  He is from Phoenix, Arizona and get this, his favorite quote is memorable.  “Believe it, and you’ll see it.  Know it and you’ll be it.” by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer.  As for his musical influences?  Stevie Wonder, Donnie Hathaway, Alecia Keys, Anthony Hamilton, Michael Jackson and Peabo Bryson.  I have to wonder again if he is old enough to even recognize any of those folks except Alicia Keys.  Either way, when he sings his first love song, it will be for me, so don’t ya’ll go claiming it.

David Archuleta - the AI pretty boy

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

I don’t know if you guys call this one like I do, but can you say Sanjaya?  He is from Salt Lake City, Utah and he auditioned in San Diego.  His musical influences are listed as Natalie Cole, Stevie Wonder, Kirk Franklin and Bryan Adams.  I don’t know, but he seems a bit young to know anything about any of those people.  He did however at least have a favorite quote.  The quote is quite interesting too and may lead him through the competition with a lot of companionship.  The quote, “You’ll never be lonely if you learn to befriend yourself.”

So, there you go, that’s all I have to say about this pretty boy.  I mean, just look at this picture

david archuleta

Does that hair not just cry out Sanjaya to you?  He really doesn’t look 17 at all, he looks more like….12.  Either way, if he can sing love songs…you know how I feel about him.

david archuleta 1 That’s a bit cheesy for me but, whatever!

Let’s talk AI - Danny Noriega

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

Ok, it’s like this, there’s a bunch of young chaps in this years competition and Danny Noriega is one of them.  And, it shows in may ways, one, his favorite quote?  He doesn’t have one.  We all know of a quote from somewhere, even if it came from our own grandparents, but not Danny, he didn’t have one.  He is from Azusa, California and he auditioned in San Diego too.  And, one more click telling his age?  His musical influence is Fantasia.  So, that right there says it all.

Now, let’s concentrate on his beautiful eyes.  They are piercing.  The glare that he gives, if he sings a love song?  The young girls are gonna go mad over him.  I don’t personally think he looks “that great” but, those eyes and as I mentioned yesterday, if he can sing?  Well, that right there boosts him up the TV Boyfriend ladder rather quickly.

I was able to find a couple of pictures and you’ve probably all seen them already but here we go with a few anyway.

TV Boyfriends - American Idol

Monday, February 18th, 2008

I’m picking some of the guys of the Top 24 this week in honor of this seasons kick off of American Idol’s Top 24.  I don’t know a lot about these guys obviously but I do know they can sing, and when a man can sing, and can sing love songs, well, who wouldn’t be interested in a candlelight dinner and some serenading?

So, first I give you Chikezie Eze.  Obviously I’m a little concerned about his name.  Is that his given name at birth?  I mean, that’s a little difficult to say, or maybe it is a nickname that came later.  Either way, he isn’t really hot, but it is cute and well, like I said, he can sing.

He is 22 and from Inglewood, California.  He auditioned in San Diego and probably wasn’t near as excited about a trip to Hollywood except for the prospect of going there to win a spot in the Top 24.  His favorite quote “Legends are made where genius meets hard work and timing.”  I like that myself.  He says his musical influences are Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, John Legen, Sam and Dave and anyone that makes good music.
