Will Estes - not very well known but boy he should be

Friday, August 29th, 2008

First the teaser…

WillEstes

That’s probably not the best photo I found of Will but…it is a start and you definitely need to hang around and check out what’s coming up.  He was born in October of 1978 in Los Angeles and is best known for his role as JJ Pryor on American Dreams.  I have to admit that I don’t watch that show…but I just might now.

He has an upcoming project in a short movie Luz Del Mundo.  He will be playing Jack Kerouac, a good friend of Neal Cassady.  The movie is in post production and will be seen in future film festivals.

So, where else can he be found?  He was in Law and Order:  Special Victims Unit, The Drive, The Drive from Clausen’s Pier, Reunion, Pet Star, Charity, Celebrity Jeopardy, The Fugitive, 7th Heaven, Full House, Baywatch, Murphy’s Law, Highway to Heaven and Santa Barbara.

Oh, yea, you can find him if you just look for him.

Evan Patak plays Volleyball too

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

If you are wondering what is up with all the 2008 Olympic Volleyball players, just remember, I like tall men and volleyball happens to be one of my all time favorite sports.  He was born 1984 (born in 1984, holy cow, I graduated from high school in 1986…yikes).  It appears more and more than I just like my men young don’t you think?

He played basketball and volleyball  for Foothill High School in Pleasanton.  He played club volleyball for Diablo Valley.  He graduated from UC Santa Barbara in 2007 where he majored in sociology and minored in sports management.  He enjoys mountain biking, wakeboarding and golfing.  He says that the Golden State Warriors are his favorite professional team and even goes out on a limb and names Anna Kournikova as his favorite athlete.

As for his college days, he was just a first team American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American.  That’s a nice place to start, eh?  He led the country in kills, service aces and points.  In 207 he was All-MPSF First Team selection and led the league in kills, aces and points in conference matches as well.

In 2008 he played professionally for San Juan Playeros in Puerto Rico and Aris Thessalonica in Greece.  He helped the US men win the bronze medal at the World University Games in Bangkok, Thailand.  And, there you go, now how about some eye candy?

Did I mention he is 6′8″ tall?

Rich Lambourne

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

I usually start with commentary on the TV Boyfriends, but I felt the need to show what Rich looks like before we go much further.

RichLambourne

Now, I know it’s not all about a pretty face, but I’ll have to say, it sure doesn’t hurt anything does it.  He is 6′3″ tall and weighs close to 200 pounds.  Sounds just about right to me.  He was in a bad bicycle accident when he was 6 and skinned his shoulder to the bone and mangled the right side of his face.  He says, “I could have been much uglier but due to my loving parents and medical science, I am only mostly unattractive…”  I can’t say that I agree with that statement now.

He does say that he is a “bandwagon” guy when it comes to professional sports.  Hey, me to, me too.  And that basketball is one of his favorites along with golf and football.  He says his favorite athlete is Michael Jordan.  Hey, me too, me too.

He calls San Diego is home and of course as most men of leisure he enjoys golf, beach volleyball and tennis.  He says his happiest moment in sports was winning the national championship at BYU in 1999.  He was MVP at Foothills High and played volleyball briefly at BYU.  He majored in Japanese at BYU.

As for college highlights, he started as an outside hitter, because you know, 6′3” is not real tall in the world of men’s volleyball.  He played in 82 games and posted 252 kills, 205 digs, 88 blocks and a .348 hitting percentage.  In 1998 he played in 21 or 22 matches and recorded 150 kills, 133 digs and 78 blocks.  I mean, I could go on and on and….well I will because in 1997 he ranked fourth nationally with 2.73 digs per game.  He was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Week on March 22.

Men’s Volleyball - Gold Medal

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

As I watch the men’s Olympic volleyball team play for the gold medal right now and if you know yourself, those men beach volleyball players are freakin’ awesome.  But, hey, take a look at the guys playing indoors, they can be easy on the eyes too.

And, so, we go with Sean Rooney first.  First of all, you know if he is 6′9″ tall then I am all over him.  I mean, really, I love me some tall men.  Naturally it isn’t easy to find information about these athletes though because they just aren’t the caliber of popularity as a Kobe Bryant.  But, Sean Rooney is by no means a slacker.  He is from Wheaton, Ill and wen to college at Pepperdine. His birthday is November 13, 1982.

He was the 2001 Illinois State Player of the Year and led his team to a state Championship.  He was also a avid player on the basketball court and could swing a golf club pretty well too.  He competed in the 1999 Junior Olympics and with the U. S. Junior National Team in 2000 as well as with the AAU National championship teams in 2000 and 2001 and get this, he was the most valuable player in 2001.  Does that surprise you?

He graduated from Pepperdine in 2005 with a degree in Business Administration.  It was 2004 when he joined the AVP beach volleyball tour.  The highest he placed was fifth but he did that three times.  He was the tallest player on those tours too.  I told you, tall men are awesome.

So, you wanna see him?

That’s pretty good right there eh?  Getting ready to go surfing with the President?

We all know Kobe but…he is hot

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

I may have written about Kobe before but since he is now an Olympian, I must give you the pleasure of checking him out again.  Most of you may remember that Kobe was one of very few athletes to go straight from high school into the NBA.  But, with that said, Kobe was educated outside the US and had a lot of maturity has he had traveled and gained a lot of his education by learning to respect the customs of other countries.  That alone lends itself to maturity, I don’t care what other people say.

And, yes once he was in the NBA for a short time, he learned to be immature and act like some of our other athletes off the court.  But on the court, he is undeniable.  He is 6′6″ and you surely know he plays for the Los Angeles Lakers.  To his credit, he has a 2008 NBA MVP, a 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 NBA All-Star, 2002 NBA Champion, 2001 NBA Champion and a 2000 NBA Champion.

See he is a champion and worth repeating in the spotlight.

Carlos Boozer - what is it that he does?

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

Why, how could you ask such a question?   Carlos is part of our US basketball team that is under a very watchful eye after their disaster in the Olympics four years ago when the US took a Bronze Medal instead of Gold.  They are calling the Redeem Dream Team because they had to make good on a whole lot of trash talking.  Carlos can help make sure that happens.

He was born on November 20, 1981  and for some reason, his home town is being withheld from us.  However, he plays for the Utah Jazz so I would be a bit surprised to find out he live terribly far from there.  He is a 6′9″ power forward who can plan the role of a center.  His accolades include 2004 Bronze at the Athens Games, and NBA all-star in 2007 and 2008 and a member of the all rookie team in the NBA in 2003.

He is also a two time member of the PARADE All-American High School Basketball Team, he lead The Crimson Bears to back to back state titles in high school and he played for Duke where he was part of the 2001 NCAA Championship Team.

Need I say more.. nah, let’s look at some photos.

I’m calling this one a shameless plug

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

This is not my real post, this is just a shameless plug but it does relate to how public schools go about raising money on a regular basis.  So, if you want to order, fine, if not, tell me what you think about the methods that the teachers and administrators as well as PTO members go through in order to ensure funding for the schools.

My son is in Kindergarten.  And, if you ask me much about the fact that it took almost $125 to get his school supplies and that didn’t count clothes, socks, underwear and shoes, you will get an ear full on the sad state of education in Alabama.  However, over the years, I’ve watched fund raiser after fund raiser just flop.

I didn’t join the PTO yet, and I may not.  I kind of like my volunteering thus far in a way that suits me and the person who needs my help without pushing myself onto just any and everyone else.

Moreover, when I say our first fund raiser coming our way, I was a little apprehensive.  But, it is one that I’ve been a part of before as a buyer.  I’ve purchased from folks in the neighborhood over the years and the products involved in this particular fund raiser are not bad at all.  Naturally some of the items, particularly the chocolates, appear to be way over priced.  But, the other items, which include calendars, wrapping paper, decorate-your-own-plate, coffee mugs, etc just happens to be one of my favorites.

You see, at Christmas, I wrap all of our gifts in different kinds of paper.  However, Santa Clause has paper that is not like any of the other paper under the tree.  For all those purposes, I use just plain wrapping paper that I can buy cheap at Wal-mart or Target or where ever.

But, when it comes to buying paper to wrap gifts for special friends, bosses, teachers, etc, I like to have at least one roll of this really good stuff.  Yes, it costs a bit more but it is really thick and it folks nicely to make pretty corners and it simply has an “expensive” feel to it.

So, as I make my shameless plug here and ask you to check it out, go see the website and if you choose to order, please put in our information that way my son gets credit for it and the teachers and the administrators don’t think I am a totally useless parent.

And, to admit the truth, I really am interested in making sure I don’t look like a totally useless parent…..truth hurts sometimes but heck, I’m an honest gal.

I know this has nothing to do with TV Boyfriends but I’m just throwing this in here, this isn’t my real thoughts for the day.

The website address is Innisbrook and our code is 106338.  When you get to the site, here are the directions:

1.  click shop

2.  enter that code 106338

3.  hit go

4.  select a school which is the only choice and it is “Lupton Junior H.S. - Nauvoo Al

5.  Click Continue

6.  Enter “Seller Number 1″ and at this point, I’m having a hard time finding out what  my son’s Seller number is, but as soon as I have it, I’ll come back and make a big announcement.

And, as it is, you can’t do much more until I find that information.   You can still show around and find something you might like to have and I’ll get back to you asap with that number.

This is by no means a beg or plea, just something I’m throwing out here as something you might be interested in because I was totally truthful about the wrapping paper and I’m being totally honest when I tell you I would never pay that kind of money for chocolate…lol.   I’ll get back to you.

Let’s continue to check out the Olympics

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

There are tons of athletes in this year’s Olympics that I could just sit and listen to them tell me tales about the Olympics as they hand their medal around my neck while I pretend it is me on that medal stand.

Today I’m going to give you….Taylor Teagarden from Dallas Texas.  Taylor is 24 and plays baseball for the US.  He is a catcher and rounds out a 6′1″ and 200 pounds.  He bats right handed and throws right handed.  Right now he a member of the minor league where he plays for the parent club in Texas.  He plays for the Oklahoma Redhawks which is a triple A Pacific Coast League.

As is par for most of our Olympic athletes that aren’t named Michael Phelps, photos of Taylor aren’t easy to come by.  But, I love athletes.  I’ve never made a baseball player I didn’t instinctively like.  And, Taylor is no different.

Todd Rogers - Beach Volleyball - talk about all muscle

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

Have you ever tried to run in the sand?  Have you ever tried to jump in the sand?  Have you ever tried to run, jump and hit a ball at the same time in the sand?  Man, these guys are strong as strong can get.  The muscles on these guys….I’m talking about the Beach Volleyball players in the Olympics right now.  Specifically Todd Rogers….and Phil Dalhausser.

Rogers and Dalhausser are the defending world champions but were beat on the first day of the Olympics.  It was a shock to say the least.  They were beat by the 23rd ranked team…23 out of 24 that is.  They try to rebound today when they face a Switz pair.

Phil Dalhausser the other half of Rogers/Dalhausser

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

Phil Dalhausser is 6 foot 9.  That alone should tell you why he got my attention.  I love me some big men.  He weighs in the neighborhood of 280 pounds.  I love me some big men.  Now, put that big ol’ body on the beach, yummmy!  Add some muscle along with some running and jumping and you have one of the hottest beach volleyball players in the Olympics this year.

His teammate, Todd Rogers, was featured yesterday and the two actually had a bad outing in their first match of the Olympics this year……but….they can get it together…no doubt about it.  Rogers says his legs were dead from marching in the opening ceremony.  I can’t say that this would be a real excuse except..have you ever tried to run on the sand?  Jump on the sand?   Yummy!

He looks really funny on the beach right now with his sunglasses on with no lenses in them.  Actually, he said he was having problems with his glasses.  The lenses were fogging up and he apparently needs the familiarity of the frames so he just took the lenses out of his glasses.

Oh well, when you look like Phil Dalhausser….you can do about anything you want…And, you know I love me some bald headed men too, don’t you?  Just look, long, lean, abs of steel and a bald head, nothing better anywhere.

Cullen Jones - Do you know your Olympic swimmers?

Friday, August 15th, 2008

If not, you need to get yourself acquainted because these guys are kicking butt over there and taking names.  Phelps, Lezak and one of their other teammates, Cullen Jones have been all over the pool.

Cullen Jones was born in the Bronx but then moving to Irvington New Jersey where he attended a prep school.  He trains with David Marsh at the Center of Excellence at Mecklenburg Aquatic Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.

He is the first African American to hold or share a world record in swimming.  He is only the second African American to make the US Olympic team as well.  At the 2008 Olympic swimming trials, he broke the American record in the 50 meter freestyle.

He has, as I mentioned above, taken gold in Beijing by swimming with Phelps, Lezak and Garret Weber-Gale in the 4 by 100 meter freestyle relay.  His honey on the side (since it obviously can’t be me) is Maritza Correia who won a 400 meter free relay at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
